With profound sorrow yet immense gratitude for a life supremely well-lived, we, the Ijaw Diaspora Council, extend our deepest condolences on the passing of our revered father, leader, and titan of justice, Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON. The loss of this extraordinary statesman, who embodied the spirit, dignity, and unwavering resolve of the Ijaw Nation and the South-South region, has left an immeasurable void that words can scarcely capture.

President Bola Tinubu is deeply saddened by the passing of Chief Edwin Clark, former federal commissioner of information and respected leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF). Chief Clark, 97, was born on May 25, 1927, in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

Did you know that Clark was active in the establishment of a Mid-west College of Technology which later became the foundation for the University of Benin, and that he served as senator for three months at the twilight of the Shagari administration? Chief (Dr.) Senator Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON was a Nigerian Statesman, Ijaw leader and politician from Delta State who worked with the administrations of military governor Samuel Ogbemudia and Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon between 1966 and 1975.

Pa Edwin Clark (25th May, 1927 – 17th February, 2025). A Nigerian nationalist, Izon and Niger Delta Leader, Elder Statesman, parliamentarian, lawyer, politician and distinguished public servant has passed on, along with revered Pa Ayo Adebanjo at 96, a radical and progressive politician, lawyer, Elder Statesman, patriot and nationalist of Yoruba extraction. Both men stood doggedly for justice in the administration of the Nigerian State.

The Urhobo Renaissance Society (URS), an organization representing Urhobo professionals and intellectuals, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, a revered elder statesman and leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF). Chief Clark, a prominent advocate for equity, good governance, and resource control in Nigeria, died on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Pa Clark’s Death: Gov. Diri leads Bayelsa delegation on condolence visit

His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State has led a delegation from the state to the Abuja home of late Ijaw icon, Pa Edwin Clark, for a condolence visit. Two illustrious sons of the state, former President Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR and former Governor, Sen. Seriake Dickson, later joined the delegation for the visit.

Pa Clark: We’ve lost extraordinary statesman, Ijaw Diaspora mourns

ABUJA – THE Ijaw Diaspora Council, IDC, Tuesday, mourned the death of Senator Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, and saying an extraordinary statesman is lost. In a tribute message signed by the President, IDC, Prof Mondy Selle Gold, the group with headquarters in the United States of America, USA, described the late elder statesman as colossus of justice, a custodian of truth, a resolute voice against oppression.

Pa Clark was also the foremost leader of the Niger Delta and South South. He was the leader of PANDEF and the Southern and Middle belt forum. As if in a conspiracy, he departed this world to the great beyond a few days after his soul mate and co-advocate for minority rights and restructuring, Pa Ayo Adebanjo (The great Afenifere Leader) also departed to the great beyond.
